A small blue truck awaits its guests in the shadow of the “Rote Hang” in Nierstein. Its steep slopes drop straight down to the Rhine and are among the most spectacular vineyard sites in Rheinhessen. The truck is a mobile wine bar that transports glasses and wines, snacks and mineral water and presents them beautifully.

Some years ago Michael and Julia Voss came up with this unusual idea. Since then, you can book the truck for events. The two also offer wine tours. They are focusing on the wines that are growing on the famous “Roter Hang”. During the three-hour-long hike, participants learn about the wines, vineyards and winegrowers in their immediate surroundings.

The two specialize in white wines and Blanc de Noir. At various stops, participants taste two wines of one grape variety from two different winegrowers for comparison. Enjoy the wine and the unique view.

Wine safari

Embark on a fascinating excursion through the picturesque landscape of Rheinhessen. The passionate winegrower Andreas Mohr will drive you through the vineyards in his Rover. The open design of the vehicle allows small groups of 3 to 8 people to chat comfortably with the winemaker, to ask questions and enjoy the picturesque view over the vineyards.

During this tour, there are five wine tastings and matching snacks and appetizers. The 60 kilometres long tour takes about 2.5 hours. So sit back and get exciting insights and information about wine production and the special features of the region. Told by an experienced winemaker who loves to share his knowledge with interested visitors.

Wine and Theater

In the summer, the Wagner winery in Essenheim comes to life as a place where books and stories find a home. You sit right next to the bottles of wine displayed in the sales room. Cabaret and culture, history, thrillers and the unique children’s vineyard are among the attractions. In 2018, the winery won the Best of Wine Tourism Award in the “Art and Culture” category.

The estate’s courtyard transforms into a lively stage during the warmer months. Its diversity shows itself in a wide range of events – from cabaret evenings to sumptuous six-course wine menus, all prepared by the family themselves. There are puppet shows and wine debates, herb walks and champagne seminars. They offer a classical concert as well as a jazz morning pint. The Wagners’ famous court festival takes place in June. Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” will be performed this year.

A feast for all your senses!
