STROLLING THROUGH HOSTARIA
Running in the main squares of the historic city centre and pedestrian routes, this year the festival celebrates his ninth edition. The fulcrum of the event takes place in Piazza Bra and Piazza dei Signori, where visitors can engage themselves in a walk among several stands, built like open-air osterias. Each representing a different winery, they invite visitors to taste wine and particular gastronomic delights, which illustrate the uniqueness of the land. These stands create an ideal path designed to encourage people to appreciate historical and unique views of the city, and, at the same time, good wine, good food and cultural entertainment, in an atmosphere of fun and conviviality. The best wineries are gathered here, coming from the production areas of Valpolicella, Soave, Valdadige, as well as Bardolino, Custoza, Garda, and Lugana, ending with Durello in Lessinia. Through the purchase of a ticket, enthusiasts and curious receive their own personal glass, and a set of tokens, which allow them to taste the wines presented.
MORE THAN JUST WINE: SIDE PROPOSALS OF THE FESTIVAL
Not only Verona, but all editions devote a specific area to wineries coming from other provinces of Veneto, as well as from other Italian regions. In the upcoming edition, set for the weekend of October 13, 14 and 15, special attention will be paid to the Slow Food theme. In fact, the Loggia Antica in Piazza dei Signori, in the heart of Verona’s historic centre, will feature a space within which there will be wineries and producers belonging to the Slow Food presidium. Thanks to their presence, visitors will be able not only to taste the special nature of such foods, but also to actively participate in various masterclasses. Guests can thus get in touch with the true philosophy of slow food.
CELEBRATING HARVEST AND ART IN ALL ITS FORMS
The Festival is able to perfectly combine the entertaining aspect of the event, with cultural themes, both literary and musical. Many in fact are the guests who annually tread the stages distributed in the main squares: writers, musicians, theatre actors. Each of them has a story to tell. Frequent are in fact interviews with prominent local and Italian cultural figures, who tell their stories and artwork for an evening. Thus, people have a chance to learn and feel closer to them. The goal, is to offer a weekend where festival participants can not only celebrate the harvest season by tasting fine wines from the best wineries in the area, but also be personally involved in this celebration.
