Alwyn Corban represents Hastings District Council and Napier City Council on the Hawke’s Bay Great Wine Capitals steering committee. He is in his second term as an elected Hastings District Councillor, representing the Heretaunga ward which includes a significant area of the horticultural production in Hawke’s Bay. He is also Chair of the Council’s District Planning and Bylaws committee.
Alwyn is a wine industry veteran of 50 years’ experience. He is a fourth generation New Zealand winemaker who established and operated Ngatarawa Wines in Hawke’s Bay until it was sold in 2017. Alwyn has served on many wine organisations including as a former Director of the Wine Institute of New Zealand (now New Zealand Winegrowers) and Hawke’s Bay Winegrowers. He still maintains his involvement in the wine industry as a winemaker and consultant.
