Finally, after three long years of preparation, not least due to the restrictions imposed during the Covid pandemic, the time has come: the first SWISS WINE FESTIVAL will take place at the Eulachhallen in Winterthur. Some forty-five winegrowers from the Swiss German-speaking area, Valais, Vaud, and Geneva as well as Canton Ticino and the 3-lake region (Lake Neuchâtel, Lake Biel and Lake Murten) will also all be present and offering their wines to the 4,000 expected visitors.
Those attending will enjoy an exclusive panoramic of the Swiss wine world, which they won’t be able to find in any other retail setting. The growers from neighbouring areas will have the privilege to present their wines to an exceptionally wide audience.
SWISS WINE FESTIVAL is being organised in close collaboration with Swiss Wine Promotion and the six regional wine promotion organisations. Nicolas Joss, Director of Swiss Wine Promotion, is convinced that the new ‘Swiss Wine Pop Up Stores’ will bridge the gap between our country’s winegrowers and the Swiss population.
Markus Matzner, editor-in-chief of the ‘Obst+Wein’ trade magazine, is also convinced that this new temporary selling formula is going to be a success. Many consumers know far too little about the world of Swiss wine, despite the fact that it all begins so close to their front doors.
The SWISS WINE FESTIVALS organiser, René Zürcher from Live Marketing Services GmbH, is convinced that such joint presentation of Swiss wineries is the ideal vehicle for bringing consumers closer to the richness of the Swiss wine world.
Markus Gilgen, Deputy Director and Head of Tourism at House of Winterthur, is delighted that the first SWISS WINE FESTIVAL has been organised in Winterthur. He is not only expecting visitors from the city and region, but actually hoping for a much wider level of participation from further afield.
Free admission
Admission to the SWISS WINE FESTIVAL is free, with no need for complicated registration procedures. Visitors can access the Eulachhallen venue bringing their own wine glass or purchasing a quality SWISS WINE glass for the price of CHF 10., which they can then take home as a souvenir.
More SWISS WINE Festivals planned
After the event in Winterthur, the SWISS WINE FESTIVAL will next be taking place from 30 November to 3 December 2023 in the city of Lausanne. From 2024, SWISS WINE FESTIVALS are going to be making stops in other Swiss cities as part of a ‘national tour’.
