It’s that time of year again: the Open Wine Cellars 2023 are open, and hundreds of winemakers across Switzerland are welcoming visitors this spring to discover their wine regions. Between April and June 2023, you have the opportunity to experience the vineyards and their grape varieties up close, and taste the wines in the wine regions of Valais, Vaud, Geneva, German-speaking Switzerland, Neuchâtel, and Ticino.

Wine & Travel Week Premiere Draws Support from the GWCGN and Tourism Industry Leaders
The 19th edition of Essência do Vinho took place from 20 to 26 February 2023 at Palácio da Bolsa, a national monument in the historic city center of Porto, Portugal. The event marked the premiere of its “Wine & Travel Week”, the first global wine tourism fair supported by the Great Wine Capitals Global Network and involved twenty-eight exhibiting countries.
A Strong Showing for Swiss Wines in Germany
From 19 to 21 March 2023, Swiss Wine Promotion (SWP) presented a wide selection of Swiss wines at the ProWein international wine and spirits trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany. Swiss wines were one of the highlights over the three days, thanks to the presence of fifteen vineyards, a new free tasting area with more than thirty vintages and seven masterclasses. At the same time, ProWein Goes City hosted the Swiss wines on the occasion of a theme evening on wine tourism in collaboration with Switzerland Tourism. In addition, in partnership with Mövenpick, a tasting of Swiss wines at the general public was organised in a boutique in the city centre.
The people of Zurich drank Vaud wines!
On Monday, March 6, 2023, a delegation of 20 winegrowers from the canton of Vaud went to Zürich to show the Zurich people the diversity and richness of Vaud wines. Premiers Grands Crus, Label or Terravin, Chasselas, Rosé, Gamay, red blends, among others, and even bubbles and vermouth from Vaud delighted the palates of the tasters.

For the first time, a Swiss wine obtains 100 points on the Robert Parker scale
The Robert Parker Wine Advocate, an influential publication in the world of wine, releases its report on Swiss wines and, for the first time, a Swiss wine was awarded the maximum 100 points. This award-winning wine from Domaine Marie-Thérèse Chappaz is a sweet white wine: Grain par Grain Petite Arvine Domaine des Claives. In addition, this year, of the 281 Swiss wines tasted, 27 obtained more than 95 points, which means that they are classified among the “Extraordinary” wines according to Robert Parker.
The SWISS WINE FESTIVAL 2023 – Swiss Innovation in the Spotlight
From Thursday 16 March to Sunday 19 March 2023, the SWISS WINE FESTIVAL is set to open its doors for the first time. Some forty-five wine producers from all the various Swiss wine regions will create the very first Swiss wine ‘Pop Up Store’ over four days at Winterthur’s Eulachhallen venue.
The Growing Presence of Swiss Wines in France
From 13 to 15 February 2023, Swiss Wine Promotion (SWP) presented a wide selection of Swiss wines in Paris (France). The national body for the promotion of Swiss wines attended, for the first time, the international Wine Paris & Vinexpo trade fair. Their presence in Paris also featured two events organised with the Swiss Embassy in France and Switzerland Tourism.
Anteprima del Chiaretto di Bardolino’s 2023 edition is back with three events
Anteprima – the Lake Garda’s rosè wine event – will be accessible to the press on the 2nd and 3rd March, to the general public on the 5th and to professionals on the 6th.
In 2022, Chiaretto di Bardolino grew by +10% in Ho.Re.Ca. compared to the previous year.
The Cité du Vin unveils its new Permanent Exhibition
After more than a month of work, the Cité du Vin has opened the doors of its new Permanent Exhibition to the public on Saturday 4 February 2023. For the first time since the opening in 2016, the Permanent Exhibition has been extensively redesigned and modified to include new staging, digital equipment and multimedia content.
