This year’s gathering attracted a global audience, including wine producers, sought-after destinations, seasoned tourism experts, and journalists. Together, they explored the finest offerings in wine tourism, leveraging the rich cultural tapestry of Porto. The program included 3 half days of business-to-business (B2B) appointments among 78 exhibitors, including destinations, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), and wineries. Amongst the delegates were also 53 invited buyers and members of the media, enriching the dialogue and expanding business opportunities.
The distinguished Porto Best Of Wine Tourism Awards, unveiled during a celebratory event at the iconic Casa da Música, served as a focal point of the week. These accolades honour the extraordinary achievements in wine tourism across the Douro Valley and Vinho Verde wine regions of Porto, applauding the innovative spirits and dedication to quality that continue to advance Porto as a top-tier wine tourism destination.
Catherine Leparmentier, Managing Director of Great Wine Capitals, offered her insights on the pivotal nature of the event: “Wine and Travel Week 2024 has not only put a spotlight on Porto’s exceptional wine offerings but also on the vital connections fostered between international buyers and tourism professionals. These interactions are the bedrock for the ongoing development and prosperity of the wine tourism sector. This event is poised to become a cornerstone in the annual calendar, solidifying its place as a fundamental component of the international wine tourism fabric.”
