It’s all about wine location

The three quality criteria for property are Location! Location! Location! – This applies even more to wine hotels. The wine boutique hotel Weinzuhause easily fulfils these requirements! It is located in the middle of a vineyard, right next to a winery and also offers a marvellous view.  But location isn't everything!

Why do guests come to this chic 4-star hotel in the countryside? “Our guests particularly appreciate the fact that we look after them individually and make them feel at home!” says the young hotelier Thomas Wild based on feedback from visitors. The name of the hotel also says it all.

A winemaker’s daughter’s dream

Stefanie Wild (née Becker), a winemaker’s daughter from Rheinhessen, and Thomas Wild from the Palatinate got to know each other during their training at the hotel management school in the Palatinate. After working in international hotels, they planned their big project with Stefanie’s parents and her brother: the visionary triad of winery, hotel and restaurant Location! completely redesigned on the outskirts of Mommenheim, in the middle of the vineyard.

The ensemble opened in 2022 and was built in line with the latest findings to be as sustainable as possible. “The winery and hotel are completely climate-neutral, thanks to the solar panels on the roof and a combined heat and power plant, we are energy self-sufficient!” explains senior Rainer Becker with visible pride.

Wine makes you want a second glass

Son Tobias Becker is the winemaker. The typical Rheinhessen grape variety mix is cultivated on 21 hectares of vineyards, mainly white wine. In addition to Riesling, the Burgundy varieties such as Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, but also Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc are particularly impressive. Guided tours of the winery with wine tasting are particularly popular. The Beckers like to positively surprise their guests with the Scheurebe grape from Rheinhessen and the history of the grower.

Hotel reception with vinotheque

The wines are marketed directly to private customers via the hotel restaurant. Anyone entering the modern building to check in will see the wine shop right next to the reception – a tantalising welcome. Of course, the full range of wines can also be found on the wine list in the restaurant. The regional, seasonally changing menu with freshly prepared dishes and Asian surprises is perfectly matched to the wines.

The theme of wine and the natural surroundings is used extensively in the hotel and in the outdoor facilities. The 20 rooms are named after vineyards such as Osterberg, Silbergrube or Hohberg. The terrace is decorated with barrique barrels and the striking metal struts on the façade are reminiscent of the metal “vineyard sticks” that hold the wire frame in the vineyard. In the cosy “private Hildegard von Bingen garden” you can enjoy the herbaceous scent of the vineyard.

Event location for all occasions

The wine family’s event programme inspires guests with many creative ideas: Outdoor yoga and a matching Ayurveda dinner, a 4-course dinner in the lavender field, the popular kitchen party or the school enrolment lunch for families with children. The popular excursion destination is particularly suitable for private celebrations.

The feel-good furnishings throughout the hotel are reminiscent of a cosy, modern home. Particularly impressive: in addition to the quality of the wines and food, the hotel team’s attentiveness to its guests takes centre stage: hospitality as it’s best!

The prize for the Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism Award 2024 in the “National Accommodation” category goes to the Weinzuhause wine hotel. The jury was impressed by the unique combination of wine, cuisine and accommodation.
