Penedo Borges Winery has been designed to maximize the views of the imposing Andes mountain range. The galleries, the large gardens and the nearby vineyards function as a transition space between the winery, the countryside and the mountains.
The interior design is stripped-down, with the space, the architecture and its relationship with the exterior as protagonists. As for the landscaping, the emphasis is placed on the use of native and xerophilous plants, integrating the winery building with the natural landscape of Mendoza.
In short, it offers a true experience for the senses, from the moment we approach it. It is located in Alto Agrelo, a highly reputed wine terroir in the Luján de Cuyo Department of Mendoza. In addition to the views full of contrasts, guests can enjoy the aromas brought by the wind and the caresses of the sun.
The building exemplifies how architecture can be contemporary and at the same time celebrate both viticulture and the landscape of Mendoza. The landscaping seeks to impress with its beauty while respecting the environment, the existing ecosystem and caring for water, the fundamental resource for life. This is why Penedo Borges uses native and xerophytic plants like coirones, jarillas, zampas, espinillos, barba de chivo and olivillos combined with some exotic species such as carex, salvias, muhlembergias and rosemary, which attract birds and pollinating insects.
The choice of elements for the construction defines a style that combines tradition and modernity. The use of exposed bricks, heavy metal profiles and wood are materials that refer to the architecture of the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Mendoza, similar to the old railway stations and historic wineries of the region. The use of natural stone in some exterior sections establishes a dialogue with the surrounding mountain landscape.
Penedo Borges strikes all your senses with its wines, location, landscape, its balance with the environment, its perfect combination of modernity and tradition, professionalism and passion. An unforgettable place…
