Château Fage

This unique venue was opened in 2021 to share the beauty of the region and it’s wines with guests from around the world, winning a 2024 Regional Best Of Wine Tourism for its accommodation.

Arriving at Château Fage La Maison des Vignes, guests are welcomed by an elegant sunny terrace, lined with red loungers and parasols that run the length of the pool. Immediately,  there’s an atmosphere of a relaxed resort, an original and modern take on traditional château hospitality.

This atmosphere reflects the philosophy of the owners Yves and Carole Glotin. They are both from the region, from Bordeaux wine families yet wanted to create a space where tradition and innovation come together to offer a warm family welcome in the heart of the vineyard.

They bought the run down 19th century château Fage in 2015 and started bringing it back it to life in 2018. They opened this unique venue in 2021 to share the beauty of the region and it’s wines with guests from around the world, winning the Gold Best of Wine Tourism and a People’s Choice Award for its accommodation.

Geographically, Château Fage is perfectly situated for wine lovers wanting to discover the Right Bank of Bordeaux. It is on the edge of the beautiful Entre deux Mers, surrounded by vines and woodland, near the banks of the Dordogne River and just a stone’s throw from the waterside market town of Libourne and the medieval wine village of Saint Emilion.

As well as a hotel, Château Fage is a working vineyard with 40 ha of red and white grapes grown in the Graves de Vayres appellation, including their organic wine. Guests can also discover the other family properties of Château Bel Air Eiffel and Château Goudichaud.

Tutored tastings allow enthusiasts to discover the complexity of the Merlot variety and how it’s expression changes across the different terroirs of the property. You could learn which wines pair best with a selection of cheeses or even try your hand at cocktails with a mixology class. What better way to work up an appetite for the excellent cuisine of chef Clement Costes. The restaurant is open lunch times and evenings for perfect candle lit dinners on the terrace, using locally sourced ingredients alongside an excellent selection of wines.

The team loves to help visitors go further afield and discover the region, sharing their favourite local vineyards and historical monuments to visit. Guests can rent the hotel bicycles and head off on their own adventure into the vines with a delicious picnic created by the chef.

The intimate 26 room hotel is perfect for private or corporate groups. With two fully equipped meeting and receptions rooms that can welcome up to 80 people. You are just  minutes away from the TGV station in Libourne, easily accessible for a corporate get away.

The private dining room in the historical kitchen can be reserved for groups and is the perfect space for team building tastings, blending sessions and even cooking classes with the chef.

Whether it’s raising a glass, enjoying food and wine, discovering the region or just relaxing by the pool, there’s a warm welcome for all at Château Fage.
