The family’s winegrowing history dates back to 1385 when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Florence vintner’s guild, the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri, in 1385. The core of the Antinori philosophy is to maximize the undiscovered potential of specific wine regions, soils, and microclimates while staying true to the tradition, culture, and taste that give Antinori wines their individuality. Throughout its long history, which now spans 26 generations, the family has always personally managed the business, making innovative, sometimes daring choices—but always with unwavering respect for tradition and the land.

The Antinori Family’s Napa Valley winery is a beautiful blend of tradition and innovation. The winery’s architecture and landscape are a marvel of design, built with input from Marchese Piero Antinori and his daughters Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia. The winery is set on a mountainside and reflects the deep-rooted connection with the land and respect for the beauty of the surrounding vineyards. The breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside are the quintessential essence of Napa Valley.

The Antinori Napa Valley estate features prestigious wine cellars, vast vineyard holdings, a hospitality center, and produces wine from Tuscan heritage with Napa Valley pedigree. The wine illustrates the same commitment to tradition, authenticity, and quest for excellence as well as other wines that bear the name Antinori.  The site for the wine estate was chosen for its mountainous terrain, rocky and well-drained soils, high elevations, and beautiful landscape – above all, an ideal location for wine growing.  The 1210-acre estate includes approximately 550 acres of vineyard planted at elevations ranging from 1,450 to 1,800 feet and the wine cellar that includes an elaborate network of caves carved into the mountain used for fermentation and barrel aging the wine. Antinori Napa Valley produces estate-grown, estate-produced, and estate-bottled Proficio, Townsend Cabernet Sauvignon, Antica Cabernet Franc, and A26 Chardonnay, all providing a unique perspective on the Napa Valley region. These wines are complemented with a small production of Sangiovese, representing the history of the Antinori name.

The Antinori Napa Valley estate was born from the dream of Marchese Piero Antinori to create a sublime expression of Napa Valley mountain winemaking after his first visit to the region in the 1960s. After many years, Piero’s dream began to take shape from his origin sketched design. The building was overseen by James Jeffery Architects, the city of Napa-based firm. Throughout the estate, European works of art and numerous shields fill the beautifully crafted rooms. This phenomenal building was finalized in 2022 and is conveniently next to the cave entrance. It was built with a bountiful use of glass doors that fully open, to help capture the stunning scenic views from the outside terrace and pool.

Antinori Napa Valley offers a unique experience that blends tradition, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality. It is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts and travelers looking to explore the beauty of Napa Valley’s wine country.  The winery is designed to display the Antinori Family’s winemaking philosophy, characterized by passion, patience, and perseverance.
