Discover the future of wine tourism at Finca La Emperatriz: tours centered on the vineyard, MICE events, and the restoration of the estate’s historic workers’ cottages, transformed into three delightful villas for lodging at the base of the vineyard.
It is distinguished by two fundamental elements at its core. The first is warmth and generosity, qualities that are both intangible and precious in wine tourism. The second is sustainability, which serves as a comprehensive framework, evident in its vineyard, its wines, and its wine tourism.
Their objective is to certify their entire vineyard as organic. They have substituted insecticides with sustainable treatments, such as pheromones. They have removed herbicides, allowing for plant cover. Rather than chemical fertilizers, they utilize shredded remnants from annual pruning as compost, along with other ecological practices.
The winery holds ISO 14001 environmental management certification, which focuses on reducing energy consumption and managing waste. Additionally, in its villas, aerothermal systems have been installed, and the toiletries are crafted from organically grown grapes.
Furthermore, they not only engage in organic viticulture but have also made it a focal point of their visits, emphasizing the vineyard tour and organic viticulture methods. For all these reasons, Finca La Emperatriz merits the Best Of 2025 award in the Sustainable Practices in Wine Tourism category in Bilbao-Rioja.
