Les “Nuits des Capites” takes place on Friday and Saturday evenings from May to September. This is a unique experience in the Lavaux vineyards by night and under the stars with the winemaker who runs the vineyard.
Participants first visit the family winery since 1384 in the hands of the 20th-generation winemaker. Then they receive a kit including a wine glass, a board, a knife canvas bag, 3 pints + water, food and a solar torch. A 10-15 minutes walk to the first capite, then another 10 minutes to a second capite.
The tastings take place on the terraces (or inside the capite if it rains) of two capites (kind of hut wherein the winegrowers take a break or store their equipment) located in the middle of the vineyards, which are illuminated exclusively by numerous solar lights to create a magical night-time atmosphere. The winemaker is present with the group of up to 12 people, explains his work and leads the tastings of all his wines throughout the evening, which lasts around 4h30.
