It's that time of year again: the Open Wine Cellars 2023 are open, and hundreds of winemakers across Switzerland are welcoming visitors this spring to discover their wine regions. Between April and June 2023, you have the opportunity to experience the vineyards and their grape varieties up close, and taste the wines in the wine regions of Valais, Vaud, Geneva, German-speaking Switzerland, Neuchâtel, and Ticino.

The Open Wine Cellars are not only a popular destination for wine lovers, but also offer an ideal excursion for families and tourists. Whether on foot, by bike, or using public transportation, the wine producers are easily accessible. Enjoy a festive atmosphere, varied discovery tours at the producers’ vineyards, and learn more about Swiss wine at the same time.

 

Open Wine Cellars: German-speaking Switzerland

Over 190 winemakers across German-speaking Switzerland will be welcoming visitors to discover their wine regions from April 29 to May 1, 2023. Whether it’s a cellar tour, a walk through the vineyards, or enjoying regional specialties and wines, German-speaking Switzerland has a diverse offering that leaves nothing to be desired. Have you always wanted to learn how Pinot Noir or Riesling-Sylvaner are produced? Then don’t miss the Open Wine Cellars in German-speaking Switzerland.

 

Open Wine Cellars: Neuchâtel

On May 12 and 13, 2023, you have the opportunity to discover the wine region of Neuchâtel with 37 passionate winemakers. On Fridays, the winemakers welcome visitors from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Neuchâtel, the largest wine region of the Three Lakes, is known for its Pinot Noir and Chasselas wines, including the famous Œil-de-Perdrix Rosé. Open Wine Cellars: Geneva

The next edition of the Open Wine Cellars in the Geneva region will take place on May 13, 2023. Geneva is home to idyllic wine-growing areas that produce various variations of microclimates and soils thanks to its proximity to the Jura, the Pre-Alps, and Lake Geneva. Winemakers in the Geneva region are known for constantly experimenting with new grape varieties, offering a wide variety of original and characterful wines, such as Chasselas and Chardonnay white wines, or Gamay red wine. Let yourself be seduced by the diversity of the Geneva region. 70 winemakers are looking forward to presenting their wine treasures to you.

 

Open Wine Cellars: Valais

The canton of Valais is one of the most important wine regions in Switzerland. The dry and sunny climate, as well as the strong and warm wind, favor the ripening of late-ripening grape varieties such as Cornalin, Humagne Rouge, and Amigne white wine. You can taste these and other grape varieties at the Open Wine Cellars in Valais from May 18 to 20, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The 230 wine cellars are looking forward to presenting their emblematic grape varieties to you.

 

Open Wine Cellars: Vaud

The Vaud region is known for its white and distinctive grape varieties, such as Chasselas. Discover the history, traditions, and landscapes of the canton of Vaud. Explore its best wines from June 27th to 28th, 2023. Thanks to the Mobilis offer, you can travel for free using public transportation. Open Wine Cellars: Ticino

Cantine Aperte – The Open Wine Cellars in the canton of Ticino welcome you with over 80 participating wineries. Winemakers will greet you on two consecutive weekends, on May 21st and 22nd in Sopraceneri, and on May 27th and 28th in Sottoceneri. Ticino is the only wine-growing region on the south side of the Alps and produces mainly red wines from the Merlot grape variety. Ticino is known for its elegant wines and prestigious cuvées.
