Founded in 1700, Vergelegen Wine Estate is anything butordinary. With award-winning wines, a history spanning over 300 years, and exquisite gardens and cuisine to suit every palate, it’s no wonder that it has scooped not one but two awards thanks to its immersive sensory experiences
Sustainable Farming And Tourism Experiences
Renowned not only for its beautiful design, the estate has long been on the path of sustainable farming
practices. Their environmental tour embodies just this, and showcases the 20 year journey Vergelegen has been on as they commit to sustainability and rehabilitation. The tour takes visitors from Stables Bistro through their arboretum and biodiversity nature reserve with possible free range Nguni cattle sightings to Bontebok and even Eland. The estate is also self-reliant for all its water, and all meats and seafood at Camphors Restaurant are ethically-raised and locally-sourced.
“It is immensely rewarding for Vergelegen’s team effort over the years to be recognised by such a respected network such as the Great Wine Capitals and the competition is tough so it makes it even more rewarding that Vergelegen has won two categories.” – Sharon Hosking, Hospitality & HR Manager
